Frequently Asked Questions

How do I connect to Salesforce / AvSight?
  1. Open the Settings tab (under More)
  2. Enter your Salesforce username, password, and security token
  3. Leave the Login URL blank for production orgs, or set it to https://test.salesforce.com for sandboxes
  4. Tap Test AvSight Connection — a green checkmark confirms the login worked

To generate a security token, sign in to Salesforce in a browser → Settings → Reset My Security Token. Your credentials are stored locally in the iOS Keychain and are never transmitted to Longeron.

How do I set up printing?
  1. Install the PrintNode Client on the computer connected to your label printer
  2. Sign in to the PrintNode Client with your PrintNode credentials
  3. In AVS Tools, open the Printers tab (under More) and enter your PrintNode API key
  4. Tap Load Printers, then pick your default printer

Get your PrintNode API key at app.printnode.com → your name → API Keys.

How do I move inventory?
  1. Open the Move tab (under More)
  2. Scan the inventory barcode, or tap Enter Manually
  3. Scan the destination location barcode
  4. Review the move, then tap Move & Print Label

AVS Tools updates the inventory record in AvSight and sends a new label to your configured printer automatically.

How does AvPics work?

AvPics captures inspection photos tied to a specific inventory or order record, uploads them to Longeron's web gallery (Supabase), and attaches them to the Salesforce record as ContentVersion files.

  1. Tap the + on the AvPics tab
  2. Scan an inventory or order barcode to start a batch
  3. Snap photos — by default, tapping the shutter saves immediately (Rapid Mode)
  4. Or press the side volume button to snap hands-free
  5. From the batch, tap Push to AvSight to attach the photos to the Salesforce record

The optional timestamp watermark burns the capture date and batch reference directly into every saved JPEG.

Why isn't the camera focusing?

Tap anywhere on the camera preview to trigger a focus at that point — a yellow reticle confirms the tap. If focus drifts between shots, enable AE/AF Lock:

  1. Tap the adjustments (slider) icon next to the shutter
  2. Choose Lock AE/AF
  3. A yellow "AE/AF LOCK" chip appears at the top of the viewfinder

Use Reset Focus & Zoom from the same menu to return to continuous autofocus.

Photos won't upload — what's going on?

AVS Tools syncs automatically every 60 seconds when online, and immediately when a lost network connection returns. Things to check:

  • The "Offline" chip at the top of the capture / batch screen means the device has no network
  • A red badge on the AvPics tab shows the pending photo count
  • Tap a failed photo in the batch grid and pick Retry Sync to force a re-queue
  • Use the Push to AvSight button on the batch header to manually push everything to Salesforce

If the batch has no Salesforce record ID (e.g. a Quick Capture batch), only the Supabase upload runs — AvSight push is skipped automatically.

How do I export a batch as a PDF?
  1. Open the batch from the AvPics tab
  2. Tap the menu in the top-right
  3. Choose Export PDF
  4. The standard iOS share sheet opens — email it, save to Files, AirDrop, etc.

The PDF includes a cover page with batch notes and target, plus one page per photo with the image, timestamp, caption, photo type, and sync status.

Where are my Settings stored? Will they survive an app reinstall?

Sensitive credentials (Salesforce login, PrintNode API key, AvPics session) live in the iOS Keychain and survive a reinstall. Non-sensitive preferences (printer choice, compression profile, tab state) live in UserDefaults and reset on reinstall.

None of this data is ever sent to Longeron — it's all local to your device.

What happens if I lose internet mid-capture?

Photos always save to local device storage first, so nothing is ever lost. When the network returns, AVS Tools automatically drains the queue to Supabase and (if configured) pushes to Salesforce. Up to 5 retries are attempted per photo with exponential backoff before it's flagged as failed and needs a manual Retry tap.
